Scottie’s on the River

I guess every group of friends has a “go-to” place when they want to get out together. Once we discovered Scottie’s on the River — well, that became our place.
It is a spectacular restaurant and gathering place, absolutely perfect for us. During the warmer months, the walls actually raise, opening the restaurant to the outdoors. And, what a view!
Nothing is as good as fresh air, a wonderful view of the Tennessee River, excellent food, and a wide selection of beverages.
And, to top it off, Scottie’s by the River is located along the Tennessee Riverwalk, not too far from the Hunter Museum of American Art, the Walnut Street Bridge, the Tennessee Aquarium, Ross’s Landing, and so much more.

Scottie’s is such a friendly place to meet and eat that we often bring along husbands (Doug, Kate’s husband, shown above) and Margaret’s daughter, Lyndella (shown 2nd from right).
Margaret (far left) and Francine (far right) occasionally join the old ladies on the loose for lunch. Both are official Medicare Card-Carrying members.
Whether it’s two, three, four, or the whole crew, there is room for everyone. And, in the time of COVID, the staff goes the extra mile to make everyone feel safe and socially distanced.
Let’s talk about food. It’s mostly seafood, and great seafood, at that. The quality is superb. In fact, the salmon is sushi quality so you can order a salmon dinner and specify how you like your salmon prepared. That’s a plus for those of us who like our fish cooked not quite so done.
Side items consist of the most delightful Brussel’s sprouts cooked to perfection, asparagus to die for, and for those who like baked potatoes Scottie’s has a loaded baked potato that should be a complete dinner item. Delicious. (and I usually don’t eat potatoes.)
By no means does that cover the menu, but since I’m writing this I picked my favorite things.
There is a variety of beverages, from iced tea and coffee, to craft beers and mixed drinks. In other words, there is something for everyone.
To be honest, I’m not one who usually takes pictures of food. But, perhaps, these pictures of the old ladies on the loose will give you an idea of the delightful cuisine.
CHEERS to Scottie’s on the River!
