    One of Us Is Talented!

    .

A Thursday night out! The Old Ladies on the Loose always knew Carolyn was talented, but it’s always a great time when we get to see her in action.

Songbirds, a local hotspot, offers musicians a wonderful opportunity to show off their skills. If you like jazz, the third Thursday of each month at Songbirds, local musicians come together to entertain patrons with a jazz jam.

Recently, Margaret and I joined Carolyn Insler for a night of fun. The evening began with a tasty dinner at the Feed (directly across the street from Songbirds) and was followed by an entertaining couple of hours watching musicians perform on the Songbirds stage.

Musicians who wish to participate gather at the club, enter their names and the selections they would like to play, before entering the main venue. As the evening progresses, musicians are called up to the stage to demonstrate their talent.

Carolyn was called upon several times to participate with other musicians before an enthusiastic crowd. To showcase the talent, musicians are encouraged to go solo during the performance. Our flautist did not disappoint, riffing through a couple of solo opportunities before the rest of the stage ensemble joined in.

There is no cover charge for this event, but donations to help fund music programs locally are encouraged. It’s all up to you!
